Coach Development
Coach Development
Coach education plays a one of the critical parts of development as we believe that the strength of our programming depends upon the day-to-day performance of our coaches on the ground. Within our current ActiveSG Academies and Club’s structure, we have identified some keyareas of improvements and designed programmes around them.
The first of the improvement programmes is the Individual Development Plan (IDP) which is targeted at our Head and Lead Coaches of each discipline. Ultimately, we want to equip our head coaches with the tools and skills to guide the day-to-day professional development of their assistant coaches at their respective centers.
It is our goal not only to provide quality experience to our participants, but also to support all our coaches to improve and grow in the profession. Through the development of annual Individual Development Plans for all coaches, we can help to chart a path for the 400+ coaches employed by SDG to grow and develop. It is our expectation that our head coaches will lead this program at the center level.
To equipment the Head Coaches with the necessary skills and expertise to lead this, we have organised two group sessions recently where the Head / Lead Coaches were given exposure and practical practice to a few development frameworks which they can use in their own centres. Frameworks like building a social learning environment, reviews, etc. help our coaches develop better techniques both with peers and participants alike.
We will be continuing the IDP program into next year to continue equipping our coaches with best practices and skills needed to raise the quality of our programmes.
