3. Finding a private coach

Singapore has plenty of private coaches willing to take students on both as part of group or individual sessions. There are two main ways to find a private coach: Online, coaches advertise their services on both forums and websites. An example would be on this website.

Alternatively, you can also head down to your local sports complex and approach a coach after his/her session to enquire about available lessons.

The best table tennis coaches – particularly for beginners – usually have a lesson plan and are able to explain the game’s concepts clearly and concisely. Good coaches are also patient and accommodating – able to personalize their training sessions for each individual student, even in a group.

Among the list of available table tennis coaches found online include ex-national team players, both from Singapore and China. Many have received accreditation from the Singapore Sports Council’s National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP), while some are also flexible in terms of time and location to suit your needs.

Of course, the most important thing about finding a table tennis coach is getting someone who you are comfortable with. The best way to find one this way is to ask friends or family members who may have taken training in the past and ask for a referral. Good luck on your search!
