Does the Nurture Kids programme cater to Early Years preschoolers?
No. The programme is catered to preschoolers aged 5-6 years (K1 & K2).
How many classes can I enrol my preschoolers for the programme?
Each preschool may enrol one K1 and one K2 class for the programme, scheduled as consecutive lessons for the day.
Can we involve more than two EC educators in the Nurture Kids Programme?
Preschools are to nominate minimum of two educators (one for K1, one for K2) as the main participants of the programme. Other educators who are keen may sit in to observe the 8-week programme.
Can we nominate more than one educator per class for the Nurture Kids Educators’ Workshop?
The Nurture Kids Educators’ Workshop is catered for the nominated educators who participate in the 8-week programme and complete the observation journal; and register before the start of the programme. Other interested educators may sit in and observe the 8-week programme and complete the observation journal for their own learning. Availability of the additional workshop slots will be communicated to preschools close to the end of the 8-week programme, where these interested educators may register for.
Is there a minimum/maximum number of preschoolers per class?
No. However, the recommended class size is up to 25 preschoolers per class, based on the staff-children ratio by ECDA. The class size would be subject to change based on the prevailing ECDA guidelines.
Do preschools have to pay for the Nurture Kids programme?
No, the Nurture Kids programme is free for all participating preschools. Programme related cost such as FMS coaches, will be funded by SportSG.
Will the equipment be provided?
Equipment is not provided for the programme. Participating schools may either procure the equipment and/or improvise equipment with recycled materials available.
If the nominated educator is unable to attend the lesson for the week, is the preschool able to send another educator in replacement?
Yes, if the nominated educator is not participating in the Educators’ Workshop. However, we recommend that the nominated educators try their best to stay throughout the 8-week programme.
No, if the nominated educator is participating in the Educators’ Workshop, he/she is required to complete the 8-week observation journal. Should there be changes to the lesson schedule, it should be communicated via the group chat to the coach at least 3 days prior to the lesson and reschedule the lesson with the coach within / the following week.
Can we nominate mandarin-speaking EC educators for the Nurture Kids programme?
As the programme is conducted in English, we recommend that the nominated EC educators have a basic command of English to facilitate their understanding and learning.
