Experience a day in the life of Mavis, one of our dedicated Active Health (AH) coaches, as we show you how she inspires and guides the community to move, eat, rest better through guided fitness & health workshops and programmes.

8.15am - 9.15am: Conducting Fitness & Health Assessments

The real work begins when Mavis arrives at the Active Health Lab to set up for the first workshop of the day, which focuses on tracking participants' fitness and health status. They undergo body assessments, and Mavis provides health coaching by explaining the results and offering recommendations on how each individual can improve their health and fitness.

9.30am - 10.30am: Discovery Walk in the Park

After a short break, it’s time for the Active Health Discovery Walk in the park. Mavis leads the group through the neighbourhood trails, demonstrating how to use the natural environment to enhance physical fitness. By incorporating strength and balance exercises along the way, she proves that even a simple walk can become a full-body workout! This walk is particularly popular with seniors, who appreciate the combination of simple exercises and coach guidance.

12.00pm - 1.00pm: Conducting CALM Programmes

In the heart of the day, Mavis leads another workshop called Combat Age-Related Loss of Muscle programme, or CALM in short. The multi-week programme includes exercises and domains sharing, as AH coaches lead seniors in their journey to become stronger, healthier and more sustenance in their physical activity. Seniors will also undergo multidisciplinary functional performance assessments.

Whether it’s a first-time attendee or a seasoned regular, Mavis adapts the workout to suit all fitness levels, reminding us all that movement is medicine.

1.00pm - 4.00pm: Lunch time and Strategy Meeting!

It’s finally time for a break. Mavis joins her fellow coaches for lunch, followed by a strategy meeting. AH coaches regularly come together to brainstorm new ways to engage participants, review data, and discuss how to improve their programme designs. Every session is planned using experience and knowledge from the field of sports science, ensuring their approach remains cutting-edge and effective.

4.00pm - 5.00pm: Balance and Muscular Fitness Session

The day wraps up with a final fitness session focused on balance and muscular strength. Mavis carefully monitors participants' heart rates to ensure a safe level of intensity, while providing constant encouragement and guidance. Her role extends beyond that of a coach—she inspires and advocates for a healthier lifestyle through staying active.

At the end of the day, Mavis wraps up her work, having guided participants on their journey toward better health.
