He embodied the values of excellence, camaraderie, leadership, passion and drive, both in his professional life as a PE Specialist/Coach, and in his sporting career as a Team Singapore athlete.
Winning medals of every colour in water polo at 4 Asian Games campaigns as a Captain and then Coach, Tan Hwee Hock, also helped start the Republic's dominance of the aquatic team sport at the regional level (a record gold medal run which lasted for 54 consecutive years at the SEA Games). He was 91 when he passed away on 26 Jan 2021.
