More than 120 Schools competed in the 2023 National School Games Boys' C Division Badminton campaign. The round-robin competition across the 4 zones, commenced on 17 April. And a month later on 17 May at River Valley High School (RVHS) 4 teams featured in the semi-finals of the West Zone. The 1st semis fixture saw, defending champions Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) face off against last year's silver medallists from River Valley High School, while Fuhua Secondary's shuttlers met Nan Hua High School in the other semis showdown.
The Hwa Chongians marched into the clash against RVHS, with a full 100-percent win record after 8 matches. And TeamRV chalked up an 8-1 win/loss record before the semi-finals. Meanwhile in the other semis fixture, Fuhua Sec were looking for their 9th straight win when they took on Nan Hua Secondary School, who had 7 wins and 1 loss. It was an afternoon of drama, athleticism and talented gameplay from all 4 teams playing in adjacent courts, as they competed to reach the grand finale. Final score : Hwa Chong Institution 5-0 River Valley High School and Fuhua Secondary defeated Nan Hua High School 3-2. Shortly after in the grand final, the Hwa Chongians went on to successfully defend their gold medal, after their 3-2 victory over the Nanhuarians!
