NSG 2024 Squash: C Div Boys Final

The National School Games Squash C Division Boys Championship took place at the Kallang Squash Centre, where National Junior College (NJC) went head-to-head with the defending champions, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACS (I)). ACS (I) showcased their dominance with a clean sweep, winning all five matches.

The boys from ACS (I) set a commanding tone right from the start. In the first singles match, ACS (I)’s decisively defeated NJC’s Zavier Teo with scores of 11-9, 11-4, and 11-3. The second game further highlighted ACS (I)’s superiority as they secured another commanding win with scores of 11-3, 11-2, and 11-1. The pattern continued in the remaining three games, with ACS (I) clinching victory by impressive margins across the board.

Despite the tough loss, the NJC boys showed remarkable sportsmanship, congratulating their opponents graciously after the match and embodying the true spirit of the game.

 

A nerve-wracking first set saw Zavier Teo from NJC battling fiercely against ACS (I). Despite his strong defense, he narrowly lost the set by just two points (9-11)

 

ACS (I) showcased their skills with impressive backhands, clinching the first match with comfortable scores of 11-4 and 11-3 after a closely contested first set.

 

Even with a 1-0 lead, the ACS (I) coach continued to provide strategic advice as the second game began.

 

During the interval, Zavier Teo received guidance after falling behind 2-0 against the opponent.

 

The ACS (I) bench erupted in applause and encouragement as their players and teachers cheered on a brilliant point won.

 

ACS (I) dominated the second game with a display of skillful play, including drop balls and drive shots, securing victory with scores of 11-3, 11-2, and 11-1.

 

The NJC team gave their all in the final games, determined to defend and win points against a strong opponent.

 

NJC teammates and friends celebrated each point won.

 

The fourth game ended in defeat for NJC as ACS (I) showcased their dominance once again by winning 3 straight sets. Despite the competitive nature, players displayed true sportsmanship, shaking hands after the match.

 

In the final game, NJC aimed to win a consolation set, with a tricky backhand drop ball earning a precious point.

 

Evan from ACS (I) put on a show for the audience, gracefully maintaining the winning streak for his team and securing the last game 11-3.

 

A moment of mutual appreciation between both players followed as they left the court.

 

Both teams came together to congratulate each other. Though NJC lost, they could hold their heads high, knowing they had given their best.
