The National School Games Tennis A Division Boys Championship final between Raffles Institution (RI) and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACS (I)) was held for the first time at Kallang Tennis Hub, a state-of-the-art facility featuring seven indoor courts, twelve outdoor courts, and two junior-sized courts.

As the top contenders in school tennis, both schools brought their A-game to the court. Since 2008, only these two schools have held the A Division titles, with ACS (I) claiming 9 championships and RI securing 5. ACS (I) had held the title for the past 8 consecutive years. However, this year, RI emerged victorious with a final score of 4-1, securing wins in the first singles, first doubles, second doubles, and third singles. This victory returned the title to Raffles Institution after 9 years.

As cheers echoed through the stadium and players celebrated their well-deserved win, it was clear this match would be remembered as a thrilling chapter in the history of school tennis competitions.

The RI supporters made a grand statement with a customized oversized tennis racket to show their support.

ACS (I)’s Ethan Wong and Brandon Ho displayed excellent teamwork on the tennis court in the first doubles against RI duo, Branden Lim and Evan Yeo.

RI’s Brandon Lim and Evan Yeo delivered a remarkable save, earning them two crucial points. They adopted an aggressive approach, with both players advancing to the net for volleys, which resulted in RI’s first match win.

Charles Yong from ACS (I) persistently returned each ball, even as exhaustion loomed when he faced RI’s David Yong in the first singles match.

In a match marked by intense rallies and fierce exchanges, RI’s David Yong put up a relentless fight against ACS (I)’s Charles Yong. RI secured the first singles match, making the score 2-0.

RI fielded Ishan Sinha for the second singles match.

ACS (I)’s left-handed player Chua Min Jie played the second singles match against RI’s Ishan Sinha. ACS (I) won this match, bringing the score to 2-1.

ACS (I) supporters united to give their loudest cheer, rallying behind their tennis players!

In the second doubles match, ACS (I)'s Pai and Isaac Lai demonstrated strategic teamwork with seamless switches and effective coverage of each other's positions, despite ultimately facing defeat.

RI’s Tng Shih Chun and John Chan secured the second doubles match, sealing the final results with an overall score of RI 3 - ACS (I) 1.

After a grueling second doubles match, ACS (I)’s Prai and Isaac Lai and RI’s Tng Shih Chun and John Chan shook hands at the net.

In the final singles, ACS (I)’s Satik exhibited exceptional form, returning the ball with skill and accuracy.

RI’s Kaleb Khoo excelled in the final singles with his speed and impeccable reactions as he expertly returned the ball and won the match, bringing the overall score to RI 4 and ACS (I) 1.

Amidst the cheers and celebrations, ACS (I) clinched a well-deserved silver trophy, marking their outstanding performance on the tennis court. 

RI emerged victorious, claiming the coveted gold trophy and bringing home the title after 9 years!
