The sport of Handball (Indoor) makes its return to the SEA Games in Hanoi, after a 15 year absence!
In fact, just 3 years ago, the SEA Games Federation allowed the Philippines to stage the very 1st Beach Handball competition. Team Singapore did send a squad to compete. And in Hanoi this time round, both formats of the sport are taking place at the 31st SEA Games. So the Republic has sent a large contingent of players and officials, to compete in the Men's and Women's Indoor Handball format and a Men's Team for the Beach version.
Meanwhile, Sport Singapore, caught up with all 3 handballers a few weeks ago. On the pre-taped Zoom chat, SportSG's Raj Kumar spoke to Lennard Tong, Darius Tan and Sharlene Chan on the nature of handball, the community scene, training during Covid-19, their plans for post-SEA Games and much more (See Interview below)
